Each year, the Euro NCAP decide which are the safest cars in each class.
Last year, five different models were chosen, winning each in a different chassis class.
Small SUV category
The safest car in the small SUV segment is Audi Q3. It received a score of 94% for occupant protection, 85 for child protection and for 52 for pedestrians. But it received a high score of 86% for safety systems and driver assistance.
Subcompact category
The safest subcompact is
Chevrolet Aveo. The car got 95% score for passengers, 87 for children, 54 and 93% for pedestrian safety assistance. Aveo received a high score, considering that it is a small class car and the price is a low-cost.
Small family car category
Safest small family car came out
Ford Focus. The car got a score of 92% to protect passengers, 82 for children, 72 for pedestrians (a very high score) and 71% because of safety systems which helps the driver avoid an accident and a collision.
Small multi-purpose vehicle
The safest small multi-purpose vehicle has been voted Mercedes-Benz B-Class. He received, as expected from a Mercedes, a huge score of 97% to protect passengers, 81 for children, 56 for pedestrians and 86 in terms of assistance and safety systems.
Large family car category
As a tradition, the safest large family car is a Volvo. It's the
Volvo V60 which point 94% to protect passengers, 82 for children, 64 for pedestrian protection, and …beating drums ... 100% in terms of safety systems and accident assistance. Yes, you read right! Volvo remains faithful to safety and received more than any other car: a maximum score.
