Goodwood Festival of Speed has emerged as a race between cars and vintage motorcycles. It became in time the most important car event in the UK, adding to the home and the latest models, F1 race cars and futuristic concepts, all available to an audience of 150,000 people.
"Vintage" air associated with Goodwood Festival of Speed would easily induce error in event history. Each year, the historic car racing is organised on the property of a noble families, but in reality, the idea emerged only 19 years ago. The passion for horsepower of Duke Henry Charles Gordon-Lennox led to the establishment of a coastal stage, designed to bring to public attention a very important circuit in the development of motor sport.
