Waste in the ocean
We all do not agree with that! It's not ok to throw garbage under the rug! Those remains on the ocean floor come from somewhere before 1970.
In those years in the U.S. then there wasn't a law against throwing waste into the sea. Researchers estimate that in 1968, 38 million tons of excavated material, 4.5 million tons of industrial waste, 4.5 million tons of sewage sludge, 100 million tons of plastics derived from petroleum, 4 tons of chemical waste and more than 1 million tons of heavy metals were thrown into the ocean.
Archives of the United States show that between 1946 and 1970 over 55,000 containers of radioactive waste were dumped in 3 "dumps" in the Pacific. In addition, 34,000 tons of radioactive waste were dumped in 3 "dumps" on the east coast of the United States between 1951 and 1962. Before 1972 there was no law on radioactive waste disposal.
