Lexus introduced in San Francisco, USA, the fifth generation LS sedan, a rival for BMW 7 Series, Mercedes-Benz S-Class and Audi A8. The new Lexus LS comes in first and a sports version (LS F Sport) and will be available for order later this year, including the European market. LS is the flagship of the Japanese brand Lexus, Toyota founded in 1989.
The new LS has four versions: LS 460, LS 460L, LS and LS 600hL F Sport. Models LS 460 and 460L (long wheelbase) can be rear-wheel drive or 4 × 4 and the other models come only with rear-wheel drive. The driver can choose from Eco driving modes, Normal and Sport, and versions with air suspension can be adjusted in Comfort and Sport modes S +.
New LS has sporty air suspension with sports settings and ride height is reduced by an inch. Also, F LS Sport has Torsen limited-slip rear differential and Brembo calliper brakes with six pistons.
Regarding safety, the new Lexus LS comes with APCS (automatic braking to avoid imminent accidents): at speeds up to 40 km / h, system can stop 100% complete and avoid a possible impact with pedestrians or other cars in front. The new LS is available with adaptive cruise control (ACC), which maintains a constant distance from the car in front and a revised LKA (leaving preventing unintentional lane).
Two other important systems are BSM road safety (monitoring blind spots) and AHB (automatic switching from high beam to low beam when the car appear in front - the same for opposite direction of travel.
It features a 12.3 inch screen multimedia system.
For very demanding customers there are optional Ottoman seat for front and back, which are basically some luxury chairs with shiatsu massage function. To these are added Blu-ray multimedia system for rear seats, DVD, SD card slot and a VGA color screen 9 inch retractable roof completely.
Mark Levinson audio system is optional (covering frequencies from 20 Hz to 20 kHz, has 15 channels and 450 W power), but even basic equipment has ten speaker audio system (CD, DVD audio and video, MP3, HD Radio).
Lexus boasts a drag coefficient of only 0.26 for the new LS.
